Ramayana box office Day 4: Nitesh Tiwari’s epic crossed ₹200 crore net in India on Diwali Sunday, early estimates show, led by its Hindi version.

Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana: Part 1, starring Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, crossed ₹200 crore net at the Indian box office on Sunday (8 November), its fourth day in theatres, according to early trade estimates. The film’s first Sunday fell on Diwali.

Trade tracker Sacnilk’s live figures put Sunday’s India net collection at ₹40.69 crore by early evening, taking the four-day total to ₹223.39 crore, Filmibeat reported. Hindustan Times later reported that the film had earned ₹48 crore net by 9 pm, which it said beat the all-time Diwali-day record of ₹44.50 crore set by Salman Khan’s Tiger 3 in 2023. These are estimates, and final Sunday figures are usually confirmed the next day.

Ramayana opened on Thursday with ₹64.85 crore net, dipped to ₹48.05 crore on Friday and rose to ₹69.80 crore on Saturday, its biggest day so far, for a three-day total of ₹182.70 crore, according to Sacnilk figures cited by Financial Express. The Hindi version is doing most of the work: it made ₹53 crore net on Saturday and ₹136 crore over the first three days. The Kannada version, despite Yash playing Ravana, has started slowly, Hindustan Times noted.

Adipurush, the last big-screen Ramayana adaptation, earned ₹237 crore net in India in its first four days, Hindustan Times noted, so the confirmed Sunday figure will show whether Ramayana has overtaken it. Monday, the first working day after the holiday weekend, will be a bigger test of how well the film holds.

Ramayana released on 5 November. Sai Pallavi plays Sita, Yash plays Ravana and Ravie Dubey plays Lakshman. It is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations, and the second part is due for Diwali 2028. As The Indian Idiot reported earlier, the film made ₹64.85 crore on its opening day.
