Shah Rukh Khan turns 61, drops King song Tu Mil Jaaye with Deepika

Shah Rukh Khan turned 61 on Monday (2 November) and marked the day by releasing Tu Mil Jaaye, the first song from his upcoming action film King. The track, which reunites him with Deepika Padukone on screen, came out just after midnight.

Tu Mil Jaaye has been composed by Sachin-Jigar and sung by Arijit Singh and Madhubanti Bagchi, with an English rap by Ed Sheeran. The video shows Shah Rukh and Deepika in romantic and dance sequences, along with glimpses of the film’s action scenes.

Sharing the song on X, Shah Rukh wrote: “Yeh Daur Ishq ka Naseeb Waalon ko milta hai... Jahan Barood ki Khushboo mein Gulab khilta hai... Of Love and other Battles.... This December, #LoveLikeAKing #TuMilJaaye song out now! #KING in cinemas 24.12.26”

King is directed by Siddharth Anand, who earlier made Pathaan with Shah Rukh, and is produced by Red Chillies Entertainment and Marflix Pictures. The cast includes Suhana Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Rani Mukerji and Anil Kapoor. It is Shah Rukh’s first film since Pathaan, Jawan and Dunki, all released in 2023, and it is due in cinemas on 24 December.

Reactions online were mixed, with some fans saying the video felt like unreleased footage from Pathaan, India Today reported. The Hindu noted that the song has a vibe similar to Besharam Rang, Shah Rukh and Deepika’s hit from Pathaan.

The birthday celebrations began the night before. Crowds gathered outside Mannat, Shah Rukh’s home in Mumbai, where a message from the actor was put up for fans: “Thank you all for your wishes and love. Sending mine right back to you all. Lots of love and a big hug.” This year he skipped his usual appearance before the crowd outside the house because of security concerns, CNBC-TV18 reported.

A King-themed display also lit up Mumbai’s Bandra-Worli Sea Link. Shah Rukh shared a photo of it on X and thanked Google’s Gemini app: “Dost ho toh Google Gemini jaisa.. Thank you for the KING-sized love always.... had to sneak out for a drive to get this photo ha ha..”
