Police held three suspects, including a minor, at Rajasthan’s Kota railway station on Monday, October 19, in connection with the firing at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai the previous evening.
A joint team of Rajasthan’s Anti-Gangster Task Force and Kota City Police intercepted the suspects on the Pune–Jaipur Express after receiving information from Mumbai police, The Indian Express reported. Investigators had used CCTV footage to trace their movements.
Kota Superintendent of Police Tejaswani Gautam said Mumbai police sent information around 9.45 am and the train arrived around 10.30 am. She said the team “searched the entire train within 15 minutes.” According to Gautam, the suspects had planned to get off at Jaipur and continue to Delhi by bus.
The shooting took place around 7 pm on Sunday near Pushpa Narsee Park in Mumbai’s Juhu area. Shroff’s driver and a bystander were injured when assailants opened fire at the vehicle. Both were taken to hospital, according to The Times of India.
Police said Shroff did not suffer a bullet injury. Reports described minor injuries, and photographs taken when Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde visited his home showed the actor with an arm bandaged and dressings on his shoulder and chest.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said Mumbai police would bring the suspects to the city after completing the necessary legal formalities. He said the investigation would seek to identify anyone else involved in the attack and those behind it.
Shinde said the government and police would address the family’s security concerns. He also urged celebrities and other people to contact police if they received threatening calls or messages. The suspects’ alleged roles remain subject to the ongoing investigation.
