Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana Part One opened in theatres worldwide on Thursday (5 November), putting Ranbir Kapoor’s take on Lord Rama on screens just before the Diwali weekend. Sai Pallavi plays Sita and Kannada star Yash plays Ravana in the first half of a planned two-part epic.

The film is produced by Namit Malhotra’s Prime Focus Studios with DNEG and Yash’s Monster Mind Creations. Hindustan Times described Part One as a roughly ₹1,600-crore production and called it the most expensive Indian film made so far — figures that come from trade reporting around the release, not from a single audited studio filing made public with this story.

The cast also includes Ravie Dubey as Lakshman and Sunny Deol as Hanuman. Part Two is lined up for Diwali 2028, according to the same trade coverage. Kapoor and Pallavi had already been promoting the project together, including a September 2026 event photographed for Bollywood Hungama.

Advance bookings opened around Dussehra. By release day, trade desks were tracking a heavy opening on the back of those pre-sales and early reviews, though live day-one collection estimates were still moving through Thursday afternoon and are best treated as provisional until evening trade figures settle.

For Kapoor, the release continues a run of high-profile mythological talk around the film — including an earlier remark comparing Elon Musk’s flying-car pitch to the Pushpaka Vimana, which The Indian Idiot reported previously. Thursday’s peg is simpler: Part One is finally in cinemas.
