Prabhas’ Spirit will now release in cinemas worldwide on October 29, 2027, instead of March 5. Director Sandeep Reddy Vanga announced the change on October 18, moving the police thriller to next year’s Diwali release window.
The announcement came with a new poster showing Prabhas in a cap and dark sunglasses. The revised schedule puts the film almost eight months behind its previously announced date.
Spirit brings Prabhas and Vanga together for the first time. Triptii Dimri and Vivek Oberoi are also part of the cast, and the film is backed by T-Series and Bhadrakali Pictures. Vanga has written and directed it, with Prabhas playing a police officer.
The move raises the possibility of competition with Ramayana Part 2 during the same holiday period. The second instalment of Nitesh Tiwari’s adaptation, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi and Yash, had already been announced for Diwali 2027.
That does not yet establish a same-day release. The Indian Express reported that Ramayana Part 2’s makers had not announced an exact date. Whether the two films open together, or at different points in the festive period, will depend on the final schedules.
The makers have not officially explained why Spirit’s release was moved, according to Sacnilk. For now, the confirmed change is its new October 29 date.
One more before you go.
