A 42-year-old Singapore-based executive and former Tech Mahindra Asia-Pacific regional business head, Paramjeet Dhankhar, was shot dead in a parking dispute at his residential building in Faridabad’s Sector 21C on Dhanteras night (Friday, 6 November), police said.

Dhankhar had flown in from Singapore on 5 November for Diwali and his nephew’s wedding later this month. Police say neighbour Mohan alias Monu Sharma, who lived in the same building, allegedly opened fire with his licensed pistol in the parking area around 8.30 pm after an argument over a parked car.

Faridabad Police spokesperson Sub-Inspector Yashpal Yadav, citing the complaint by Dhankhar’s son Shaurya, told The Indian Express that Sharma rang their doorbell, called Paramjeet downstairs to move a vehicle, then “picked an argument… pulled out a pistol and fired multiple rounds.” Yadav said Sharma also fired at Shaurya, who took cover behind vehicles.

Investigators told outlets that around 15–16 rounds were fired and that eight or nine bullets struck Dhankhar in the chest and torso; he was declared dead on arrival at hospital, police said. Surajkund police registered a case of murder, attempt to murder, criminal conspiracy and Arms Act offences. The complaint also names Sharma’s wife, two children and brother, who police say fled; those allegations have not been tested in court.

The Sector-30 Crime Branch arrested Sharma near DLF Chowk in Ballabgarh on Saturday, police said. Officers said the families had repeatedly quarrelled over parking and over a pet dog in the common parking area. Police will seek remand for questioning and recovery of evidence; none of the allegations has been proven in court.
