‘It’s done bro’: J&K CM Omar Abdullah marries journalist Nidhi Razdan

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has married journalist Nidhi Razdan. The couple announced the news on Saturday (31 October) by sharing photographs on X, a day after they tied the knot.

The marriage was solemnised under the Special Marriage Act on Friday (30 October), with family members from both sides as witnesses, news agency PTI reported, citing sources.

“A new journey began yesterday,” Abdullah, 56, wrote on X, tagging Razdan in a post with four pictures of the couple.

Razdan, 49, kept her own announcement short. “It’s done bro,” she wrote, sharing a photo with Abdullah. Both posts quickly drew a stream of congratulatory messages.

Razdan is a well-known television journalist who worked with NDTV for several years. Her parents, M K Razdan and Sarla Razdan, attended the celebrations. This is her second marriage, according to PTI.

The wedding functions were held in Srinagar and New Delhi and were attended by families and close relatives from both sides, including Abdullah’s parents, Farooq Abdullah and Mollie, and his three sisters, PTI reported.

“Heartiest congratulations to Mr. Abdullah sahib and Nidhi ji on starting this new journey together. Wishing you both a lifetime of happiness and togetherness,” National Conference spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar said, according to The Hindu.

Abdullah married his first wife, Payal, in 1994 and announced their separation in 2011. The couple, who have two sons, Zahir and Zamir, went through a long legal battle over the divorce. The Supreme Court dissolved the marriage in July this year after the two reached a mutual settlement.
