Two people were killed and two others were seriously injured after an explosion at a firecracker warehouse in Badli, in Rajasthan’s Nagaur district, on Thursday morning (5 November). Police, fire crews and ambulances rushed to the site as Diwali stock was being handled across north India.
Circle Officer Jatin Jain said officials initially suspect a short circuit may have sparked the blast. “As you can see, there is an open courtyard here, and an electric pole is also present. Initially, we suspect that a short circuit may have occurred, producing a spark that triggered the explosion,” he told ANI.

“This incident has resulted in two deaths, and two other individuals have sustained serious injuries,” Jain said. He added that the fire had been brought under control and that Forensic Science Laboratory and Mobile Crime Scene Unit teams were being called to pin down the cause and decide on legal action.
Local reports said the blast was heard hundreds of metres away and briefly panicked nearby residents. Authorities are checking the warehouse’s licence, how much explosive material was stored, and whether storage rules were followed. The exact cause has not been confirmed.
The accident comes days before Diwali, when firecracker sales and storage spike. Delhi-NCR already has a separate Supreme Court-backed window for green crackers this year, which The Indian Idiot has explained earlier — but Thursday’s Nagaur blast is a warehouse safety story in Rajasthan, not a Delhi timing rule.
