Over 3,400 drones formed a peacock above Mysuru’s Bannimantap Torchlight Parade Grounds on October 18, earning a Guinness World Records title during the city’s Dasara celebrations.
The record recognises the largest aerial display of a bird formed using drones. The peacock was one of 12 formations in Sunday evening’s show, organised by Chamundeshwari Electricity Supply Corporation Limited, or CESC.
The Times of India reported that Guinness representatives announced the result after the display and handed the certificate to CESC technical director L. Lokesh and other officials. Sunday was the second day of the drone-show programme.
The opening show, on October 17, had already featured a peacock alongside other images. Star of Mysore’s report on that earlier performance described LED-lit formations of a lion, butterflies and galaxies, as well as Mysuru landmarks and festival imagery such as the Golden Howdah and Goddess Chamundeshwari.
Behind those images was a team from Delhi-based BotLab Dynamics. Star of Mysore reported that the operators worked from St. Philomena’s College grounds in Bannimantap, with the opening performance running for 20 minutes.
CESC also secured a Guinness title during the 2025 Dasara celebrations, when 2,983 drones formed a tiger. This year’s recognition is specifically for the bird formation.
Further drone shows are scheduled for October 20 and 21, according to the programme reported by Star of Mysore.
