India and West Indies finished their T20I series level at 2–2 after rain ended the deciding match in Bengaluru on October 17. A delayed start had already reduced the contest to nine overs a side before another interruption brought it to a halt.
India were 118 for five after 7.4 overs when play stopped. Ishan Kishan had made 30 from just 10 balls, with three fours and two sixes, according to Mumbai Indians’ match report. India’s first over produced 14 runs.
The innings kept moving despite wickets. Captain Shreyas Iyer made 22 from 14 balls, while Naman Dhir finished unbeaten on 24 from six deliveries. Dhir hit three sixes and a four, but the burst could not turn the shortened contest into a completed match.
Afterwards, Iyer focused on the opportunities India had missed earlier in the series. “Our batting has been sensational, but in the execution we fell short,” he said in comments reported by The Indian Express. He pointed to the bowling in the second and fourth matches and acknowledged West Indies’ batting.
Shai Hope was named Player of the Series after scoring 261 runs, including two centuries. His performances were central to a series in which neither team could secure the deciding win.
The final result was an abandoned fifth match and a drawn series, rather than a victory awarded on India’s scoring rate. Iyer’s next challenge, as he noted after the washout, is the series in New Zealand.
