India ended their Asian Para Games 2026 campaign in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, with 114 medals, 30 gold, 35 silver and 49 bronze, their best ever haul at the Games. They won nine golds on Friday, October 23, their biggest single-day haul of this edition.

The total passed India’s previous best of 108 medals, including 27 golds, from the Hangzhou Games in 2023. This time India sent 168 para athletes, compared with 309 in Hangzhou. India were fourth in the medal table at the end of their campaign, with no Indian in action on the final day of competition.

“Our champions have put up a stellar display at the Asian Para Games 2026, taking India’s total tally to a magnificent 114 medals,” the Sports Authority of India said on X.

Friday’s gold rush began in the javelin. Sumit Antil defended his title in the men’s F42-44/61-64 combined event with a throw of 72.46m, leading an Indian 1-2-3. Mahendra Gurjar (59.03m) took silver ahead of Sandip Sanjay Sargar (64.48m) because medals in the combined event were decided on Raza points, which adjust results across different classes, Sportstar reported.

There were two world records in athletics. Sandeep won the men’s 400m T64 in 52.28 seconds, and Haney threw 60.49m to win the men’s javelin F37/38. Pranav Soorma defended his men’s club throw F51 title with a Games record of 32.87m.

The shuttlers won three titles. Paris Paralympic champion Nitesh Kumar beat Pramod Bhagat 21-18, 21-16 in an all-Indian men’s singles SL3 final, debutant Naveen Sivakumar beat Indonesia’s Fredy Setiawan 21-9, 21-17 in the SL4 final, and Thulasimathi Murugesan and Manasi Joshi won the women’s doubles SL3-SU5.

Shooter Mona Agarwal broke the world record to win the women’s 50m rifle 3 positions SH1 with 357.5 points, her second gold of the Games, and archers Harvinder Singh and Vijay Sundi beat China 5-1 in the men’s recurve doubles final. Mona had earlier won the 10m air rifle standing SH1, edging Avani Lekhara, as The Indian Idiot reported.

Para athletics again gave India more than half their medals, 65 in all (22 gold, 19 silver, 24 bronze), 12 more than last time. Para badminton added 16, while para swimming jumped from one medal in Hangzhou to 11 and para table tennis from two bronze to seven. Archer Sheetal Devi won two golds in a day earlier in the week.
