PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen gave Indian badminton a double on Sunday (1 November), winning the women’s and men’s singles titles at the Hylo Open 2026, a BWF Super 500 tournament in Saarbrucken, Germany. Both finals were won in straight games.

Sindhu, the world No. 8 and a former world champion, beat Denmark’s Line Kjaersfeldt 21-12, 21-14. The Dane, ranked No. 25 and seeded eighth, kept pace early on, but Sindhu pulled away in both games and closed out the match with a net error from Kjaersfeldt.

It was Sindhu’s second BWF World Tour title of the season after the Japan Open in July, and it came a week after she finished runner-up at the French Open, where she lost the final to An Se Young.

“It was important for me to give my 100% irrespective of who the opponent was,” Sindhu said after the final. “We’ve played a lot of times and for me it was important that I focus on every point. I took the lead from the beginning and didn’t give her a chance.” She added: “This gives me a lot of boost, a lot of confidence.”

Later in the evening, Sen beat Indonesia’s Jonatan Christie, the defending champion, 21-17, 21-10. Sen led the first game 18-10 before Christie won seven points in a row to close in, but the Indian held on and was rarely troubled in the second game.

“CHAMPION! 🏆 Lakshya Sen conquers the Hylo Open 2026 in style with a dominant 21-17, 21-10 victory! ❤️🇮🇳,” the Badminton Association of India posted on X.

The title ends a lean spell for Sen. According to BWF, he had lost in the first round of his previous six tournaments, and his last title was the Australian Open in November last year. “It has been quite some time since I won a tournament, so it feels good,” he said. He had also won this tournament in 2019, when it was called the SaarLorLux Open.

With the win, Sindhu earned 9,200 ranking points, strengthening her bid to qualify for the season-ending World Tour Finals.
