Harmanpreet Kaur hit an unbeaten 91 off 41 balls as India beat Zimbabwe by 92 runs in the third women’s T20I in Raipur on Tuesday to complete a 3-0 series sweep. Sportstar described it as India’s biggest T20I win at home and their 11th straight victory in the format.
India batted first for the first time in the series and made 216 for seven. Captain Smriti Mandhana moved herself down the order, with Anushka Sharma opening alongside Shafali Verma. Shafali made 69 off 37 balls, and she and Harmanpreet added 84 for the third wicket. Harmanpreet started slowly, with 11 off her first 11 balls, before finishing with 10 fours and five sixes.
The innings came a few weeks after Harmanpreet gave up the India captaincy across formats, during a run of inconsistent scores. “Feels great that I got some time in the middle. Just wanted to enjoy myself and bat as long as possible,” she said during the innings break, Sportstar reported, before breaking down during the interview.
Zimbabwe replied with 124 for seven, their best total of the series. Sharne Mayers made 60 off 49 balls and Beloved Biza 44. Nandni Sharma was India’s best bowler with three for 18 in four overs.
Shafali, who also made a fifty in the previous match, was named Player of the Series. The teams now move to Vadodara for a three-match ODI series starting on October 23.
