Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday (1 November) flagged off the Bengaluru–Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper from Sir M Visvesvaraya Terminal (SMVT) in Bengaluru, giving the two cities an overnight Vande Bharat service. The 16-coach inaugural special left at 12.15 pm and is due at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Mumbai, at 6.15 am on Monday.

South Western Railway posted a video of the launch on X. “Hon’ble Minister for Railways, Shri @AshwiniVaishnaw , flagged off the Bengaluru–Mumbai Vande Bharat Sleeper Train, marking a significant milestone in enhancing modern rail connectivity between the two major cities,” it wrote.

Timings: Train No. 27652 will leave SMVT Bengaluru at 7.45 pm and reach CSMT Mumbai at 11.55 am the next day. It will run six days a week, except Mondays. In the other direction, Train No. 27651 will leave CSMT at 8.10 pm and reach Bengaluru at noon the next day, running every day except Tuesdays.

When it starts: South Western Railway said regular services begin on 2 November in the Mumbai–Bengaluru direction and on 3 November in the return direction, Hindustan Times reported.

Stops: The regular train will halt at Anantapur, Guntakal, Raichur, Yadgir, Kalaburagi, Solapur, Pune and Kalyan. Sunday’s inaugural special also stopped at Hindupur, Dharmavaram and Lonavala.

Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi and HD Kumaraswamy, Ministers of State V Somanna and Shobha Karandlaje, and MPs Tejasvi Surya, PC Mohan and CN Manjunath were among those at the launch. Speaking at the event, Vaishnaw said India was exporting Vande Bharat coaches and propulsion systems to countries including Switzerland, the United States and France, and aimed to start exporting complete trains within four years, PTI reported.

The service comes a day after the Varanasi–New Delhi Vande Bharat Sleeper was launched. The first sleeper services, on the Howrah–Guwahati corridor, began in January 2026. Our explainer on the Varanasi–Delhi train has its timings and stops.
