All 20 matches of the men's Asian Champions Trophy in Punjab will be free to attend, Hockey India announced on October 20. Spectators still need to register for an entry pass before heading to the stadium.
The tournament runs from October 27 to November 5 across two cities. Jalandhar's Olympian Surjit Singh Hockey Stadium will host the league phase through November 2. The competition then moves to the Olympian Balbir Singh Senior International Hockey Stadium in Mohali for the semifinals and medal matches on November 4 and 5.
Hockey India has directed fans to TicketGenie's website or mobile app. After registering, spectators can choose a match and receive a digital pass carrying a QR code, which will be scanned at the venue. Free admission does not mean the registration step has been removed.
India's opening match is against Bangladesh on October 27. Its remaining league fixtures are China on October 29, Japan on October 30, Malaysia on November 1 and South Korea on November 2.
Hockey India's current fixture listing places the Bangladesh, China and Japan matches at 7 pm IST in Jalandhar. Fans travelling for those games should match their chosen pass to the fixture date and venue; the medal-round venue is in a different city.
Hockey India said the decision was intended to make international hockey more accessible to supporters.
