To take a break from the usual binge watching here are some movies and tv shows you can watch if you haven’t already.

Predestination

As the name suggests, the movie is based on the predestination paradox which really means a time loop where an entity is the cause, effect and result of an event, all in itself. Predestination is twisted and the final plot twist will have you mindfucked for real. One of the most hellbent watches if you are looking for something to screw with your head on a weekend.

Looper

Also set in the future, this movie features various crime syndicates who hire killers called ‘Looper’ who travel into the past to commit murders and assassinations. Plot Twist: A looper’s final victim is himself. The movie has a tense screenplay and gives goosebumps with every transition.

Interstellar

It would be a shame to not include this movie here, because Interstellar was one of the first movies I watched which introduced the concept of temporal paradox to me. Haani, time loop! where futures events are responsible for past events. A brilliant, brilliant screenplay by Christopher Nolan with one of the most accurate depiction of the black hole that was based on the information available at that time, Interstellar equally touches us with the emotional appeals of its characters and its scientific accuracy!

Steins;Gate

Steins Gate is a brilliant anime with an equally brilliant plot that develops slowly at first but twists into one of the most complex mysteries that the MC Rintaro Okabe gets accidentally stuck in. The plot of Steins;Gate is complex and follows the principle of world lines or PARALLEL DIMENSIONS WHERE A LITTLE CHANGE IN THE PAST CREATES A WHOLE NEW DIFFERENCE. Got your attention? Watch it for an amazing experience.

Dark

Much talked about series this year and it truly deserves the attention. Dark features a complex screenplay and honestly the best screenplay I have seen across any movie, TV series or anime. The complexity of the screenplay is what gives a charming appeal to the series and it has all the concepts of time travel we have seen before: temporal paradox, time loops and even parallel worlds. It would be a crying shame to not watch this series and we urge you to do it ASAP!!

Bill & Ted’s excellent adventure

Source: hollywoodreporter.com

Released in 1989, this movie is an innocent take on time travel with hearty humour and a steady plot. Bill and Ted make a time travelling machine out of a phone booth and goofy as they may seem at first, the movie is absolutely adorable. Bonus Point: Stars a very young Keanu Reeves. Also, Bill & Ted Part 3 is releasing on 28th August!!!!!!

The girl who leapt through time

Source: buzzerspace.com

This is movie is one of the most heartfelt take on the innocent life of a highschool girl who acquires the power to jump through time. The main character is absolutely loveable, the depiction steals your heart away and the hint of romance that the writers subtly put in hits on a whole different level. This movie will give you a hangover for at least 24 hours and we betcha’ (yes, gonna include About Time in part 2)

Edge of Tomorrow

Source: amazon.com

Tom Cruise stars in this amazingly concocted movie which is based on an alien invasion on the planet who have the ability to loop time and restart the day. Scary, right?? The movie is full of tongue-biting action sequences and a grim overtone of the screenplay that gives a feeling of tense urgency. Spoiler Alert: Tom Cruise dies in the movie. About 300 times !(also, nod to Groundhog day)

Back to the Future

One of the cult classic movies of the last centuries, Back to the future is one of the most talked about movies based on time travel. Steven Spielberg produced a believable movie considering it was released in 1985. Funny and exciting, this is one of the movies you can watch after a stressful week and it’ll surely work like a charm.
