In the ever-expanding realm of superhero cinema, 2022 proved to be an average year. While some movies were filled with a mix of awe-inspiring heroes, captivating storylines, and groundbreaking visual effects, other big ones fell headfirst while trying to make an impact.
From the depths of the multiverse to the skies above the cityscape, this year’s superhero movies nevertheless were enjoyable treats for the audience. So here are the best superhero movies of 2022 that you should definitely watch to channel the inner hero in you!
- The Batman
Undoubtedly the best superhero movie of the year, “The Batman” is an absolute blast. I remember people reacting negatively to Robert’s casting as The Dark Knight. But, Pattinson nails it as the brooding but badass superhero. His intense stares and jaw-dropping fight scenes make him the ultimate Gotham guardian.
Director Matt Reeves brings a dark and moody vibe to the city, making it the perfect playground for our caped crusader. Zoë Kravitz slinking around as Catwoman, and Colin Farrell as the Penguin do an equally amazing job. Paul Dano as the Riddler is delightfully twisted, bringing a whole new level of mind games. “The Batman” is a wild ride that’ll leave you craving more Bat-adventures, but 2025 seems too farrrr.

- Black Panther: Wakanda Forever
A quite emotional and nostalgic movie, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is a heartfelt tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman, carrying forward the legacy of the first film. It delves deeper into the captivating world of Wakanda, exploring its vibrant culture, advanced technology, and the indomitable spirit of its people.
The movie strikes a perfect balance between exhilarating action sequences and emotionally resonant storytelling, captivating viewers from start to finish. Led by the outstanding performances of Letitia Wright and Danai Gurira, the ensemble cast shines brightly, bringing depth and authenticity to their characters’ journeys. The movie also sees some new additions with great potential in the form of Iron Heart and Namor. Director Ryan Coogler’s artistic vision creates a visually stunning masterpiece that celebrates unity and the enduring legacy of Wakanda.

- Guardians of the Galaxy: Holiday Special
It is always fun when there’s a GOTG movie playing. You get some hilarious moments, some good classic songs and a lot of chaos. This movie too, is a delightful and hilarious ride that brings the beloved cosmic misfits back together for a festive adventure.
The film captures the spirit of Christmas while maintaining the signature humor and charm of the Guardians franchise. Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, and team effortlessly reprise their roles, delivering witty banter and lovable dynamics and the addition of Kevin Bacon adds a fresh touch to it. Director James Gunn’s direction infuses the special with heartwarming moments and spectacular action sequences. With a perfect blend of holiday cheer and intergalactic fun topped with THAT reveal by Mantis, this special is a must-watch for fans of the Guardians of the Galaxy.

- Thor: Love and Thunder
Taika Waititi’s attempt to expand the eccentric and comedic side of Thor, as seen in “Thor: Ragnarok,” is undeniably refreshing in “Thor: Love and Thunder” (2022). But this time, in doing so, he misses out on a lot of aspects, and ends up badly under-utilizing Christian Bale. The film’s genre-fluid romcom approach is a helluva fun ride, but it falls short in terms of scale and action, especially for a Marvel film. While the snazzy stunts and sharp humor keep you entertained, you can’t help but miss the larger-than-life, menacing superhero appeal of the Asgardian Avenger. But phir bhi it is a good one time watch.
- Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
The film, powered by a commendable performance by the cast, does a good job trying to explore the vast and diverse multiverse, expanding the Marvel universe in exciting ways. It introduces audiences to parallel dimensions with unique rules and inhabitants (cameos *wink wink*), providing endless storytelling possibilities.
But this also means that deaths become less effective. Aise toh har doosre movie mein same characters from a different universe will continue to appear. The people at MCU need to figure out a way to make sure that the addition of the multiverse doesn’t tone down the overall emotion the fans have associated with the franchise.

- Black Adam
Black Adam starts of as a powerful and electrifying entry into the DC Extended Universe. Dwayne Johnson’s portrayal of the titular anti-hero is a standout, showcasing his commanding presence and physicality. The film’s visual effects and action sequences are impressive, delivering intense and exhilarating moments.
But the plot’s predictability is what ruins it. The exploration of Black Adam’s complex origins and motivations adds depth to the character. However, the pacing occasionally falters, with certain unnecessary plot points feeling rushed. A majority of the secondary characters could have been further developed. Despite these flaws, “Black Adam” is an exciting and promising addition to the superhero genre, setting the stage for future adventures in the DC universe. Also 2 minutes of silence for that post credits scene.
