For those who are living under a rock, Hotstar recently dropped the trailer for Special OPS web-series starring Kay Kay Menon. It tells all the different tragic events that our country has beared the brunt of and spins it into a thriller series!
And the best part is that it has the godfather of acting Kay Kay Menon and is created by Neeraj Pandey who has already given us amazing movies like Special 26, Baby and Naam Shabana.

2001 Parliament Attacks
On 13th December 2001, terrorists from Lashkar-e-Taiba(LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) killed two security personnel, six police officers and a gardener inside the Parliamentary complex. The gunmen used a fake identity sticker on their car to get an entry inside and carried AK47 rifles, grenade launchers, pistols and grenades. 5 terrorists got killed in the counter attack and one of the terrorist’s suicide jacket exploded when he was shot at. Around 22 people were also injured. The attack’s investigation involved 4 accused namely Afzal Guru, Shaukat Hussain Guru, S.A.R. Gilani and Afsan Guru.
2006 Mumbai Train Bombings
On 11th July 2006, there were a series of 7 bomb blasts that made the city bleed. The bombings took over a period of 11 minutes and pressure cooker bombs were used in the attack which killed 209 people and injured more than 700 people. The bombs were kept in the trains plying on the Western Line of the local train network. All the bombs were placed in first class general compartments. Lashkar-e-Qahhar claimed responsibility of the bombings after 3 days.
26/11 (2008) Mumbai
On 26th November 10 terrorists carried out 12 shootouts and attacks which lasted 4 days in Mumbai. 8 of the attacks were in South Mumbai at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, Leopold Café, The Nariman House, the Metro Cinema, Cama Hospital, the Oberoi Trident, Mumbai Chabad house and the worst being at the Taj Palace and Tower. There were also attacks behind the Times of India building, St. Xavier’s College, Mazagaon and in a taxi at Vile Parle. 9 of the 10 terrorists got killed and Ajmal Kasab the sole surviving attacker confirmed his links with Lashkar-e-Taiba. The attacks killed 165 and more than 300 were wounded.
On 18th September 2018, 4 heavily armed terrorists from Jaish-e-Mohammed attacked an Indian Army brigade in Uri near the LoC. 17 army personnel got killed as they lit tents on fire in a pre-dawn attack. 2 of the soldiers later succumbed to their injuries and left the death toll to 19. Around 19-30 soldiers were reported to be injured and the attack went on for 6 hours until all the 4 militants were shot down and killed. 7 of the personnel killed were support staff including barbers and cooks.
To be honest, I’m genuinely happy to see Indian content industry growing like this. They have upped the game so much in the past 2-3 years, especially in the spy-thriller genre. Very excited for this!
