Baba Ramdev’s Patanjali is now ready to disrupt the telecom sector. At a launch event on Sunday, Baba Ramdev introduced Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM cards, in alliance with Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL).
However, the services of the Swadeshi Samriddhi SIM cards are restricted to only Patanjali employees and office bearers for now. Baba promises that after its country wide launch, customers will have to pay only 144 rupees for unlimited phone calls, 2 GB data pack and 100 SMSes.
Additionally, customers will also get 10% discount on Patanjali products with their SIM card. Speaking on the occasion, Ramdev said “government-owned BSNL is a Swadeshi network and the motive of both Patanjali and BSNL is the welfare of the country.”
Everything Baba Ramdev does is a potential meme on Twitter. You can’t expect people to not make jokes on a news as big as this. Here are some of the funniest jokes we could find about Patanjali’s Swadeshi SIM cards.
Baba Ramdev also talked about Patanjali’s motive of “prosperity for charity.” He also announced that in addition to data and call packages, the SIM card will also come with medical and life insurances of Rs 2.5 lakh and Rs 5 lakh, respectively. Which could only be availed in the case of road accident.
