Welcome to India, here movie producers don’t hire visual effects team for some larger than life extravagant Visual FX like in Hollywood movies, but to cover up bare midriff of Indian women because hello Indian culture. Maybe one day, if we’re lucky enough, we can also cover up the patriarchy using visual effects.

Padmavati/Padmaavat makers recently had to cover up Deepika Padukone’s 3 inch bare midriff in ‘Ghoomar’ song to comply with requirements of Indian censor board.

According to a report by The Quint, a source present at film’s screening said, “The CBFC’s Examining Committee asked the film’s producers – the director was not present during the censor screening – to remove the shots where her stomach was visible. However such editing would have disturbed the smooth choreographic flow of the elegant dance number. The director preferred to conceal Deepika’s belly through computer graphics.”

While some frames in the song were a wee bit complicated to edit, so they decided to cut them off entirely. The new version of ‘Ghoomar’ song is 2 mins shorter.

It’s honestly hard to comprehend how people can live in 2018 and also get offended by a 3 inch bare midriff. As you might expect, people are really angry on the internet. Here’s what they are saying.
