The 90th Academy Awards aired earlier today. For those who don’t know, The Oscars are like Filmfares but without the useless drama, made-up award categories, badly edited terrible dance performances, suspense build-up during ads and cut scenes between Amitabh & Rekha. Oh, and sadly, you can’t buy the Oscars. (sorry Varun sir)
A quick recap: Jimmy Kimmel came back to host The Oscars and delivered a hilariously powerful monologue.
They paid a heartwarming tribute to Shashi Kapoor and Sridevi in the memoriam segment.
The Shape Of Water dominated The Oscars.
Although the event aired at 5:30 am in India, a lot of Indians still managed to wake up early and live tweet the event with the whole world. From drawing comparisons between Bollywood & Hollywood and making fun of The Shape of Water, here are some of the most hilarious jokes Indians made while watching the Oscars 2018.
#Oscars are to Bollywood what elections are to Congress

Maybe the #Oscars should have an Indian franchise. I think the 'Manik Pasand Sunsilk Paraag Pantene Jio Masala Academy Awards' would be a great show 😁

Critics: No Indian Movie winning #Oscars. When will Acche Din come?

Oscars is like FIFA World Cup; we Indians get excited for no reason..
— Writer Thakur (@IndianWriterV) March 5, 2018
Indians on Oscars day: The fallacies of the layered cream biscuits narrative of the complex scenes of the movie was the reason why it didn't win.
Indians on other days: Yaar Chennai Express acchi movie thi.

We had awards for movies in ancient times itself. They were called "Puraskars". The west copied the idea, called it "Pure Askars" and then shortened it to "Oscars".#ItAllStartedInIndia #PleaseShareOnWhatsapp

Oscars is so dignified and sophisticated. Bollywood can never organise for such an award function. They’ll fill the award function with their pathetic jokes and horrible dance.
— Disha. (@Disha_Tweetx) March 5, 2018
#Oscars paid tribute to Sridevi and Shashi Kapoor in their 'In Memoriam' section. Heartwarming to see that. ❤
And back in India, media is busy sensationalizing things with headlines like 'Maut ka Bathtub'. 🙈
