Thrilling adventure with CAT, the Indian web series that will have you on the edge of your seat! Leading the way is the remarkable Randeep Hooda, who once again proves his commitment to the craft of acting. From Sarabjit to CAT, Hooda’s impeccable performances make him deserving of the title “Mr. Perfectionist.”
Randeep Hooda was born to play Gurnam Singh
Hooda’s transformation into the character of Gurnam Singh is truly extraordinary. He completely loses himself in the role, making it difficult to recognize him as his real-life self. With spot-on appearance, behavior and flawless Punjabi skills, Hooda effortlessly brings Gurnam Singh to life. It’s a far cry from Aamir Khan’s annoying accent in Laal Singh Chaddha, which left many disappointed. Hooda’s attention to detail will not disappoint you. He picks up the Punjabi accent so well.
The series starts off with two parallel storylines, but things pick up after the demise of a key character. From there, it’s a non-stop rollercoaster ride that will keep you hooked until the very end. It sheds light on the dark underbelly of Punjab, exposing corruption, revenge and the fight for redemption. It’s an intense and gripping narrative that explores the raw essence of the region.
The true strength of CAT lies in it’s portrayal of Punjab. The series captures the rustic charm, vibrant culture and unique lingo of the region with authenticity. While the series isn’t flawless, the exceptional ensemble cast and the captivating storyline more than make up for any shortcomings. Geeta Aggarwal Sharma, Kavya Thapar and Danish Sood deliver really strong performances.
CAT is not something everyone would like
CAT’s pacing may initially feel slow, but you just need to make it through those 2-3 episodes. Additionally, it isn’t suitable for family viewing due to its portrayal of drugs, violence and explicit scenes. It’ll be best enjoyed by mature audience who would appreciate it’s intense and gritty nature.
The show also boasts a tightly written screenplay that keeps you engaged from start to finish. The supporting cast delivers commendable performances, adding depth and realism to the story. Some scenes are particularly intense and visually stunning, showcasing the brilliance of the cinematography.
While the ending was kinda disappointing, the show still manages to leave a lasting impression. It may have pushed certain elements to the extreme (beech beech mei it feels ki it’s getting too much of everything) but its overall impact is undeniably powerful. An ending with simplicity would have been more effective than shock value.
Overall, CAT is a great web series that showcases Randeep Hooda’s acting prowess and offers a thrilling journey through the dark underbelly of Punjab filled with corruption, drugs and politics. With its flaws and all, it stands out as one of the great Indian thriller series of recent times. Feels like Netflix finally produced something closer to Sacred Games.
