With gaining popularity of OTT platforms, Netflix, the OG streaming platform has come up with a new plan for us and it is definitely something to look forward to, with India as its opening station.
While in the first half of the pandemic, the subscriber growth just sky rocketed for Netflix but now it is not that high because of the rising competition and new content spread over various platforms.
To surpass its competitors like Disney+Hostar, Amazon and dozens of other OTT platforms that have a strong grip amongst Indian audience decided to provide the non-subscribers free weekend watch starting from 4th December on its StreamFest offer.
Previously, Netflix has come up with many promotional offers, to attract more customers Netflix has tested first month subscription for Rs 5 and free first episodes of various titles. Earlier in July, it announced an “Immortal” offer for its users where they could get 83 years of free subscription, while celebrating the of the release of ‘The Old Guard’ movie those who could score the highest points in ‘The Old Guard’ videogame could claim the subscription.
When asked about the new promotional offer, Greg Peters, COO and Chief Product Officer at Netflix replied, “But the company plans to keep experimenting with new ways to lure potential in many parts of the world, we think that giving away everyone in a country access to Netflix for free for a weekend could be a great way to expose a bunch of new people to the amazing stories that we have, the service and how it works … and hopefully get a bunch of those folks to sign up”.
When asked about promotional plans the company plans to launch in India, the Netflix spokesperson mentioned, “We’re always looking at different marketing promotions to attract new members and give them a great Netflix experience.”
Netflix will issue a code for the users so to access the application during the free-trial offer.
