Anything with Oscar Isaac excites me to the core. So when Moon Knight was first announced, my expectations were pretty high. And it is safe to say that the new MCU series does deliver according to people’s hopes. The character was always regarded as the sasta Batman of Marvel. But its clever reimagination and thoughtful writing debunks those beliefs as the show veers away from conventional hero origin tropes.
The show provides insights into the often-misunderstood mental illnesses and adds an element of unpredictability to the show, seamlessly blending drama, action, thriller, and horror.
The subject matter of ‘Moon Knight’ centers around the challenges of living with a debilitating mental illness. It is a captivating character study wrapped in epic myth-building and heroic antics. Creators Jeremy Slater and Mohamed Diab deserve hum sab ke cornettos ki last bite for not giving us just another cookie-cutter superhero tale. They bring the Middle East to life with cultural depth and mix it with ancient vibes. The result? A unique look and feel that’s been devoid of the MCU movies and shows for a long time now.
Stellar Cast Performance
With such an interesting choice of cast, the performances are no wonder brilliant. Ethan Hawke bursts onto the scene as Arthur Harrow, our villain extraordinaire. And if there’s something that watching movies and shows all day long has taught me, is that cult leaders are the best kinds of villains. He challenges our moral compass and blurs the lines between good and evil. If you ever thought “Thanos was right,” you might just find yourself saying “Ye bhi theek hai” to Harrow’s ruthless judgment, which made a lot of sense to me, ngl.
But, the man of the hour is undoubtedly Oscar Isaac. My guy is a force to be reckoned with! He effortlessly displays a wide range of emotions, diving deep into the trauma of his character and leaving us in awe of his talent. It’s like watching a masterclass in acting, with a lot of scenes just making you smile in awe. A few people might question his accent, but it seems more like a creative decision to keep it rather fake.
Unlike anything MCU
While the narrative can get a bit complicated early on, it is flawless for the most part. It’s offbeat, it’s chilling, and it’s downright tragic at times. It takes us on a dark and introspective journey, exploring the depths of mental health. The revelations in the third act are simply mind-boggling and keeps us on the edge of our seats.
With its unpredictable narrative and top-notch performances, Moon Knight is destined to become a fan favorite. It breaks free from the MCU mold, delivering a self-contained yet immersive story. Cannot wait to see more of ‘Stevey’ in the MCU, and how the makers tie things up to make him an Avenger. Moon Knight is easily in the top three MCU shows, perhaps second only to Loki.
