Some movies just occupy a space in our heart forever and it is their beautiful ending that makes sure of it. Here is a list of some of the most iconic movie endings of all times.

Rang De Basanti

The gang walking into bright light as “suraj ko mai nigal gaya” plays in the background. One of the most impactful movie endings of all time. First that penultimate scene with the laugh that made everyone cry like a baby and then closing it with hope. I C O N I C.

Jojo Rabbit

Easily one of the most iconic endings of all time and I won’t hear otherwise. Leaves you with a smile on your face and a hope in your heart. The reason why we love cinema. Heroes plays in background as that beautiful quote “Let everything happen to you. Beauty and terror. Just keep going. No feeling is final” transitions on screen. Wow.

(500) Days of Summer

A film that breaks our heart into a million pieces during the entire film, leaves us with a hopeful ending that heals the pieces right back. As Tom looks directly at us, as if he’s trying to say…“phir.. phir kya agle din apne mohalle mei AUTUMNNNNNN AAAAAAAAYI !” oooh ooooooohooooooo ohhhhhhhoooooooooo

Before Sunset

A very simple, heartwarming ending that you don’t forget for a very long time. Celine is silly-dancing in her apartment and Jesse is looking at her, smiling, knowing he’s gonna miss the plane and he couldn’t be more glad about it tbh. Perfect ending to this beautiful film that deserves so much appreciation.

Whiplash

Ending that deserves more hype. Neiman walks off the stage after having been deceived by Fletcher, but something clicks in his head and he returns to the stage to play the UNO reverse card, and he pulls the biggest and the most satisfying “fuck you” you’ll ever watch. This scene completely changes the power dynamic between the two and they FINALLY work together as equals to create one of the best movie endings ever! Damien Chazelle knows how to end films, lmao.

Coco

Honestly, all Pixar films deserve to be on this list lol but Coco’s ending hit thoda sa extra. Made us sob like no “adult” film ever can. Miguel playing “remember me though i have to say goodbye, remember me” to his grandma. I’M CRY AGAIN OK

Logan

One of the most heart-wrenching endings of all time tbh, but it’s exactly the perfect ending he deserved. It felt like a very personal loss and there wasn’t single person in the theater not sobbing during this scene. Throws a reminder punch of human mortality right in your guts! But also leaves with a beautiful lesson, “Don’t be what they made you.” Ending that stays with you.

Requiem for a Dream

The most painful but powerful movie endings of all time. It will literally hurt you for days. We see all the characters succumbing to their addictions as the hauntingly beautiful piece plays in the background. A very important film that everyone should watch once, but never again. Because the lesson is important. Don’t do drugs.

Perks of being a Wallflower

Another one of my favorite endings with Heroes as background song. The reason why I love the ending so much is because it’s not recklessly positive, it’s just hopeful. In the sense, it offers a well-earned perspective for Charlie that things might still suck, heart might break again, and his life definitely won’t be rainbows and butterflies but it’s okay. It’s okay to feel that way, and that he’ll be okay anyway. Idk, a very important lesson for our generation with such a feel-good ending; Sam screaming out her lungs and Charlie feeling infinite.
