Indian cricketer Hardik Pandya has found himself in hot waters after his appearance in the latest episode of Koffee With Karan. In the candid talk show, he opened up about his personal life and relationships.

He boasted about hooking up with multiple women, and spanking his teammates in the locker room (?). When Karan Johar asked him why didn’t ask women their names in the club, he said “I like to watch and observe how they move. I’m little from the black side so I need to see how they move.”

For those who missed the episode, here’s a thread of all the problematic things he said.

As you might expect, he received a huge backlash on the internet for his problematic behavior. So much that even BCCI is now considering barring players from appearing in non cricket shows. *slow claps* that must teach them how to respect women, no?

Fearing the public backlash, Hardik Pandya also issued an apology on social media today. “After reflecting on my comments on Koffee with Karan, I would like to apologise to everyone concerned who I may have hurt in any way. Honestly, I got a bit carried away with the nature of the show. In no way did I mean to disrespect or hurt anyone’s sentiments. Respect.”

However, this poorly written excuse of an apology didn’t land with people too well either. While some are calling it a mere PR damage control, others are just making jokes, because, well, why the hell not. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Replies are actually friggin’ hilarious and I’m not complaining.

Here’s something Harsha Bhogle wrote about this whole issue and I think it’s very important.
