It might be thoda sa hard to wrap your head around but we’re already 16 days into August! (idk how either). Which means 10 days from now, it’s Gender Equality Day that celebrates just how far we have come to make the world a more equal space for everyone. This month’s conversation topic is on gender equality and here’s how you can be a part of it.
AND we’ve come so far, no, really, I’ve personally seen so many changes in my own family over time!
A little instance from my family – my older sister wasn’t “allowed” to go for college outside our city, so she had to compromise. But now my younger sister is studying in Germany and everyone is surprisingly very chill with it!
This change, it didn’t happen in a week, and it certainly didn’t happen overnight. It took a collective, consistent effort and struggle of millions of women and men around the world to educate, un-condition, normalize, lead by example, and most importantly, keep the conversation going. And as far as we have come, we STILL have some ground to cover. 🙂
How we’re walking (or skating, I like skating) the ground is by collaborating for #VoiceOfArt An initiative by Vivel that aims to bring conversation around gender equality and women empowerment in focus through ART. Because well, art says what words can’t. It’s deafening without being loud. It shares ideas quicker than words.
Vivel’s #VoiceOfArt is a platform that will celebrate equality all through August because one day of the year is just not enough. If you have a voice that needs to be heard, an idea/opinion that needs to be shared around the theme of gender equality- pick up a pencil, pen, paintbrush or stylus, and create something!
To kick-off this platform, they have already collaborated with 8 rad artists across India and you can see the work on their page.
Just express yourself & do your bit to create a conversation around equality and women empowerment through your unfiltered art. Vivel will feature the best art work all through August.
Now be a good buddy and share this with your artist friends. All the guidelines and details about #VoiceOfArt can be found here. Don’t forget to use #Thelndianldiot hashtag in your entry post 🙂
