Gautam Gambhir is one of the very few cricketers who don’t flinch before standing up for social issues in the country. Whether it’s promoting India-Pakistan diplomacy or voicing support for transgender community, Delhi dude is always there.
On Raksha Bandhan just last month, Gautam Gambhir celebrated the day with transgender community and voiced injustice and discrimination against them.
“It’s not about being a man or a woman. It’s about being a HUMAN.” With proud transgenders Abhina Aher and Simran Shaikh and their Rakhi love on my hand. I’ve accepted them as they are. Will you? #respecttransgenders pic.twitter.com/6gBOqXu6nj

As you might know, earlier this month Supreme Court scrapped the section 377 which criminalized homosexuality. This history verdict is a big win for LGBTQ community, and they decided to celebrate it in their annual Hijra Habba event in New Delhi.
And guess what? Gautam Gambhir not only attended the event to celebrate with them, but he also donned a black Saree and wore a Bindi as a tribute to transgender community. The event was hosted at a mall by HIV/AIDS Alliance India. The theme was “Born This Way.”
He might have stepped down as captain earlier this year, but he’s still boss at life. Hopefully, it will inspire more famous people to raise awareness among people.
