“You don’t wanna tell me what’s wrong? fine. I don’t need to know. But you can never stop me from trying to cheer you up. Fact of life. You’re just gonna have to deal with it.”

How I Met Your Mother completed 15 years today and here are some of my favorite moments from the show that has been part of my life ever since.

One of my favorite moments from the show. When Ted plans an elaborate surprise for Robin to cheer her up. “There’s one thing your Aunt Robin never was, she was never alone.”

*GUITAR STRUMS* *MAJOR SOBS* (salutes – major sobs)

After Stella leaves Ted at the altar he carries a lot of the heartbreak and anger with him for the longest time. Right before he’s about to lash out at her after months, he sees her laughing with her ex-husband and their kid, and in the moment, he lets go of his heartbreak. His hurt and his anger. All of it just disappears.

And he wasn’t angry anymore.

So beautifully done 🙂

“That was the year I was left at the altar. The year I was beat up by a crazy bartender. The year I got fired. The year I got beat up by a goat, a girl goat at that. And dammit, if it wasn’t the best year of my life.”

Perfect background music.

The last season was hella disappointing but this scene single-handedly made up for it, honestly. When Ted’s sitting in the balcony, and he hears Tracy play La Vie En Rose on the ukulele.

I still find myself going back to this rendition and this scene. So beautiful i cry.

When Ted waits for Slutty Pumpkin to show up on Halloween like every year, but this time, Robin joins him for the night.

“How do you do this Ted?” “I know The odds are that love of my life isn’t gonna magically walk through that door in a pumpkin costume at 2:43 in the morning.. but seems as nice spot as any, yknow?”

Inside of Love by Nada Surf makes this scene 100 times better.

A scene 10 years in the making! we went through all the heartbreaks, laughs, interventions, Barney’s pickup lines, Lilly’s advice, Ted’s llys. just for this scene and holy shit it was fucking worth it!! Can’t believe they actually pulled off this scene so well.

No shame in admitting I’ve watched this scene over 30 times now.

Downtown train in the background :’)

I would choose Barney’s proposal or Barney and Robin’s wedding, but knowing how the writers fuck it up later, I don’t feel anything watching those scenes now.

But this one. So beautiful.

“You are the love of my life. Everything I have and everything I am is yours. Forever.”

When imaginary Barney tells future Ted that “you’re all alone.”

And he runs to Tracy’s house and gives the heartbreaking speech. “Hi, I’m Ted Mosby. And exactly 45 days from now, we’re gonna meet. We’re gonna fall in love..”

Goosebumps. Sobs. Repeat.

I don’t know, I still don’t know how I feel about this. Gonna leave this one to you.
