In this article, we’ll take a closer look at the cream of the crop, highlighting the best romcom movies of 2022. Get ready to swoon, laugh, and fall in love with these cinematic gems that captured our hearts and reminded us why we adore the charm and magic of romantic comedies.

  • Where The Crawdads Sing
Source- WHERE THE CRAWDADS SING Official Trailer/Sony Pictures Entertainment

Where The Crawdads Sing is a visually stunning and emotionally poignant film adaptation that stays true to the beloved bestselling book of the same name by Delia Owens. Set in the enchanting marshes of North Carolina, this movie brings to life the extraordinary journey of Kya played by Daisy Edgar Jones, a young woman navigating love, loss, and her unyielding spirit.

With breathtaking cinematography and compelling performances, the movie immerses viewers in a world of raw beauty and heartfelt emotions. Even though I wished for further development in certain aspects of the plot to enhance the overall experience, yet Where the Crawdads Sing is an evocative and emotionally resonant film that captivates with its raw beauty and delivers a moving testament to the power of human connection and the triumph of the human spirit.

  • Marry Me
Source- Marry Me – Official Trailer /Universal Pictures

‘Tis the time to feed off Owen Wilson! Marry Me is a delightful romantic comedy that hits all the right notes. Starring the dynamic duo of Jennifer Lopez and Owen Wilson, this film delivers a feel-good experience that will leave you grinning from ear to ear. In a twist of fate, a pop star impulsively marries a random fan during a concert, leading to a series of hilarious and heartwarming moments as they navigate the ups and downs of their unique relationship.

With catchy musical numbers and undeniable chemistry between the leads, Marry Me is a fun and entertaining watch. It isn’t a great film cuz plot predictable hai and the humour also follows tired Hollywood tropes, but hey, the movie’s lighthearted spirit and the charisma of the cast make it an enjoyable escape into the world of love and laughter.

  • The Lost City
Source- The Lost City Official Trailer/Paramount Pictures

The Lost City is a thrilling and laughter-filled adventure for your boring days. In this action-packed rom-com, Sandra Bullock takes center stage as a romance novelist Loretta Sage who finds herself living out the wild and unpredictable events from her own bestselling book, as her handsome cover model Alan, played by Channing Tatum sets off to rescue her.

While The Lost City boasts a talented cast and delivers on entertainment value, the plot lacks depth and occasionally relies on familiar tropes, and there are instances where humour feels forced. But it is still an enjoyable escape with its fast-paced energy and kaafi breathtaking visuals.
Where to watch- Apple TV

  • I Want You Back
Source- I Want You Back Official Trailer/Prime Video

I Want You Back is a romantic comedy that explores the ups and downs of love and friendship. In this film, Peter and Emma joins forces after experiencing failed engagements, embarking on a mission to win back their former partners. The film’s standout feature is its talented ensemble cast, including the charismatic performances of Charlie Day, Jenny Slate, and Gina Rodriguez. Their on-screen chemistry and impeccable comedic timing infuse the story with energy and laughter, creating genuine moments of connection.

However, the movie relies on some familiar rom-com tropes, making certain plot twists and character arcs somewhat predictable. Also, I felt some scenes to be long and stretched out, so they could have done with lesser run-time. Nevertheless, “I Want You Back” offers an endearing and enjoyable cinematic experience, reminding us of the complexities of love and the power of friendship. Despite its drawbacks, the film delivers heartfelt moments that will leave you smiling and hopeful for the possibilities that come with second chances.
Where to watch- Amazon Prime

  • Bros
Source- Bros – Official Trailer /Universal Pictures

“Bros” is a significant milestone as the first theatrically released studio gay rom-com, co-written and starring Billy Eichner. The film tackles the pressures and expectations placed on it as a pioneering work in the LGBTQ+ genre. Eichner’s character, Bobby, is a successful podcaster who embraces singlehood until he meets Aaron (Luke Macfarlane), challenging his preconceptions. While the movie initially stumbles with some overly preachy lines, it quickly finds its rhythm, blending romance, comedy, and social commentary.

Eichner shines in his transition from a comedic sidekick to a leading man, delivering both humor and emotional depth. “Bros” navigates the fine line between making a gay film and winning over the straight crowd, offering an authentic and joyous celebration of love. With its snappy storytelling and genuine charm, this film deserves a spot in your rom-com collection.
