As we all know NY is the land of iconic landmarks and nobody ever fails to capture the attention of the digital clock called the Metronome on the south side of Union Square.
The clock is named ‘The Passage’, along the numbers on the left hand side denoting the current time and the right side denoting the time of the remaining day, this was it until Saturday.

NOT TO SCARE Y’ALL (OR MAYBE TO SCARE YOU ONLY)
As of now, from left – right; the clock displays a deadline: the years, days, hours, minutes and seconds left to curb greenhouse gas emissions enough to give the Earth a two-thirds chance of staying below the limit of 1.5 degrees Celsius of warming and thus the New York’s own CLIMATE CLOCK.

This change was made on Saturday, 17th September and as it spreads on internet, the goal of the international Paris Climate Agreement as the scientists stated that if we exceed even a bit more than now then, we’ll have to face disastrous consequences.
Gan Golan and Andrew Boyd are the two activists who came up with this plan and Boyd stated that, no matter if we bother to choose the timeline of physics or not, the reality wouldn’t change. The next consequent years are very crucial for the earth and the humanity he added. They just hope that this clock serves as a reminder to everybody to make any changes.
This is how the CLIMATECLOCK organization explains the timing:

The UN’s IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change), said that human caused greenhouse gas emissions should be reduced to 45% from 2010 levels by 2030 , nine years away , to give the Earth a 50% chance of not exceeding 1.5 degrees Celsius of warming and that we can accomplish this goal successfully.

It has got twitter worried already:
If the #fires & #hurricaneseason2020 don't get your attention maybe a 62 ft wide countdown clock will push us all into action.
The clock shows our window for action to prevent the effects of #globalwarming from becoming irreversible.#ClimateClock https://t.co/E846jJBiVc

MEANWHILE THE EARTH

A few other cities also have planned to expand on this idea, as they state that we have a deadline which we can turn into a lifeline. This has got everyone’s attention and as it blows off the web, let’s hope it acts as just the right alarm we needed.
