Recently, Disney+ Hotstar announced its multiplex series; a bunch of Bollywood blockbuster films that are releasing directly on their platform in the coming months, including Sushant Singh Rajput’s Dil Bechara !
And Akshay Kumar’s much anticipated film Laxmmi Bomb!!!!
And Ajay Devgn’s Bhuj, Abhishek Bachchan’s The Big Bull, Alia’s Sadak 2, Vidyut Jamwal’s Khuda Hafiz, Kunal Khemu’s Lootcase and more !
All these films are gonna release in July to October period. Big B’wood films are now saying “ab apun ko OTT release mangta tha” and this could change the entertainment scene. It has sparked a debate once again whether Bollywood films should wait or not?
I’ll be honest, nothing can match the big screen experience, but hear me out.
- IT IS EXPENSIVE. And I’m talking INR 500 for ginti ke 175 and a half popcorn expensive (ginne hai maine, koi doubt mat rakhna!) And don’t even get me started on just how expensive the tickets are with their INSANE internet handling charges. Matlab pehle hi haath paer sab tight hai, aur kardo tum. Bhagwan se daro.
- AND THE ANNOYING KIDS??? Why do we always get a seat next to a couple with a chhota sa annoying bacha jisko har dus minute mei bhookh lagti hai aur puri movie mobile full brightness on karke games khelni hoti hai full volume pe.
Plus given the health scene in India right now, don’t think they’re gonna open the theatres anytime soon anyway. But here’s the thing. Entertainment scene is changing, I think. People have seen just how convenient and cheap it is to watch premieres at home while eating rajma chawal with family.
Got my parents the subscription right before lockdown and I don’t think they’re gonna pay a bomb to watch movies they can just watch at home now.
It’s interesting how things are gonna pan out for Bollywood, entertainment industry and life in general because of this pandemic.
