For those who don’t know, it’s raining trailers and teasers at San Diego Comic-Con 2018. Last night, Warner Bros panel dropped a bunch of trailers for its upcoming movies – Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, Shazam. But there was one trailer that stole the friggin’ show.
The king of the seas finally arrived last night when WB dropped the first official trailer for Jason Momoa’s upcoming solo superhero film Aquaman. The character was first introduced back in DCU’s Justice League last year, which, frankly speaking, was a massive disappointment. But that’s the life of DCU fans; we hype, we disappoint, we hype again.
But tbh, Aquaman’s trailer actually looks pretty friggin’ cool. (inner voice: you said the same about suicide squad)
Directed by James Wan, the film is an superhero origin story for Arthur Curry. “My father was a lighthouse keeper. My mother was a queen. But life has a way of bringing people together,” the trailer kicks off with his voice over. “They made me what I am.” As the trailer progresses, we find out that Aquaman’s half brother has assumed the throne of Atlantis, and he has called for a war on the “surface world.” He’s the only thing standing between his half brother Orm and his desire to sunken the earth under water.
CGI looks so beautiful as we get a glimpse of the underwater world of Atlantis. The official synopsis reads, “The film reveals the origin story of half-human, half-Atlantean Arthur Curry and takes him on the journey of his lifetime—one that will not only force him to face who he really is, but to discover if he is worthy of who he was born to be… a king.” The movie is scheduled to release on December 21. Until then, we hype.
