I only recently heard about this new musical-drama show called Bandish Bandits, so I did what any normally functioning adult would do, I drank two mugs of coffee & watched it in one go! And NGL, the moment I finished it, I legit went to Youtube to listen to the soundtrack!

It’s an absolute TREAT for music enthusiasts! I mean, if you’re also a little tired of seeing the same old crime-thrillers, gang war bs hitting the streaming platforms lately, you’d enjoy this one. Although the story might feel a bit extra to some people, but the aesthetic backdrop of Rajasthan and the ode to Indian classical music will more than make up for it!

And, obviously, my favorite part – it features an original soundtrack by the holy trinity of Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy!

Bandish Bandits features OG actors like Naseeruddin Shah and newcomers like – Radhe (Ritwik Bhowmik) who comes from a reputed music fam in Jodhpur and dreams to win Sangeet Samrat. Then there’s Tamanna (Shreya Chaudhry) an urban city pop singer who’s big on social media and wants to be India’s first international pop star.

Classical + Pop = a collaboration of music (and also love?? obv)

Special appreciation for the song “Labb Par Aaye” sung by Javed Ali and written by Sameer Samant. It’d be fair to say that this song made me fall in love with Indian classical music. Gonna be on my loop for sometime now! (also not to undermine how beautifully it’s written, like wow)

And Virah, bruh. Virah takes you to whole different level. So beautiful. Then there’s Garaj Garaj OBV. Definitely coming back to these three! (ok theek hai Sajan Bin also)

If you’re not particularly a fan of Indian classical music or have never really listened to it (i don’t blame you ’cause same), you’re gonna find yourself actually vibing to it on loop by the end of the season that’s for sure.

Bandish Bandits has definitely set a milestone with music in the web-series space. Music is undoubtedly the soul of this show and how they use it in certain situations and storytelling, it deserves appreciation. With each episode you fall in love with it a little more!
