“Cuttputlli” is an intriguing thriller that showcases Akshay Kumar in a role that fails to meet expectations. It is the remake of the Tamil movie “Ratsasan” which was released in 2018. It is a great psychological crime thriller but baar baar Akshay ko police officer bante hue nahi dekhna yaar.

The movie had great potential but clearly wasted it

It had the potential to be a captivating movie, it falls short due to average performances and lackluster direction. The movie becomes dull, making it a rather unenjoyable experience. It’s about time that directors realize the maturity of the Indian audience, understanding that unnecessary love stories and out-of-place songs are unnecessary in a thriller.

However, amidst its shortcomings, there are some notable aspects worth mentioning. The script and story-writing is commendable, presenting an incredible narrative. The film showcases beautiful backgrounds and locations, adding visual appeal. It successfully blends elements of comedy, action and suspense, resulting in a somewhat engaging watch.

One of the film’s strengths lies in its ability to evoke chills and create spine-tingling moments. It manages to do justice to its inspiration, “Ratsasan” and boasts commendable performances from Rakul, Akshay Kumar and Sujith Shankar. The cast and crew deserve credit for their dedicated efforts.

Unnecessary dramatic elements take away the charm

There are noticeable drawbacks that hinder the overall experience. It disregards factual accuracy when it comes to medical conditions. The movie suffers from unnecessary dramatic elements and the impact of the brutal killings seems to be overlooked. The screenplay fails to address crucial plot points, such as the handling of evidence and the development of the villain’s character maybe because this remake has been cut short by 30 mins jiski wajah se they’ve missed out some backstories.

Despite its flaws, it remains a one time movie. It serves as a reminder of Bollywood’s attempt to delve into gripping thrillers, making a strong statement within the industry. While it may not reach the heights of excellence, it provides some entertainment value. However, for a truly remarkable mystery thriller, I would recommend you to explore the original Tamil version, “Ratsasan,” which excels in acting, storytelling, background music and screenplay.

In short, “Cuttputli” is a thriller that showcases untapped potential, offering a mix of intriguing and disappointing elements. Fans of Akshay Kumar may find it worth their while, but those seeking a truly exceptional mystery thriller might be left wanting more. Ek baar toh dekh hi sakte ho.
