Kartik Aaryan has always doned the pretty lover boy or anti-love 😛 roles but he brings a whole new vibe to his newest character – Freddy, in a psychological thriller film that is equal parts fun and dark. Usually we don’t expect such movies from Bollywood that too starring Kartik Aaryan but well this movie definitely exceeded my expectations. The catch is that don’t have expectations and you’ll never be disappointed :p

Dr. Freddy Ginwala, portrayed by the charming Kartik Aaryan, leads a successful life as a dentist in Mumbai. But beneath his professional accomplishments lies a tale of loneliness and longing. Freddy finds himself devoid of friends, a lover and even parents, leaving him craving companionship (Ye review likhte hue mujhe personal attack kyu feel ho raha hai?) It’s a tough situation for this socially awkward guy, as he endures constant rejection, mockery and humiliation in his quest for love. He’s even been stood up on countless dates, us rahega Freddy bhai.

As the story moves forward, his journey becomes more intense and unsettling. Kartik Aaryan delivers a stellar performance, immersing himself in the character’s transformation. From altering his physical appearance to capturing Freddy’s sociopathic essence, he brings a whole new level of depth to the role. Aalia Furniturewala also plays the character of Kainaaz very well.

The movie was predictable to a very large extent

Even then, it somehow still keeps you glued to the screen. One of the coolest things about this film is it’s killer screenplay. The story unfolds at just the right pace, keeping you hooked from start to finish. The characters are fleshed out so well that you feel like you know them personally. And let’s not forget those nail-biting moments of suspense and jaw-dropping violence.

The climax, well, it’s like the party popper that fizzles out a little too soon. You’re all pumped up, expecting a big bang, but it falls a bit flat. But despite these hiccups, it’s still a great watch. It keeps you engaged, entertained, and sometimes even gasping in shock.

While “Freddy” successfully builds a suspenseful atmosphere and captivates audiences, it does stumble a bit in the latter half. Nevertheless, it’s refreshing to see Hindi cinema embracing psychological-crime thrillers and taking steps in the right direction. Kartik Aaryan’s terrific performance will both entertain and leave you on edge. Don’t forget to book that dental appointment (lekin pehle dentist ke reviews padh lena :P)
