When was the last time your curled up in front of your television or laptop to watch a feel good movie?

The world that we live in more often than not disappoints and disheartens us. Sometimes we need to find comfort in the arms of things that are sure to guarantee us a good time. And sometimes, that thing is feel good movies. If you haven’t had the best of weeks, here are ten feel good movies that you could watch over the weekend!

Stuck in Love

The story revolves around an author, Bill Borgens, who has always encouraged his children, Sam and Rusty, to write. In the light of his divorced, he tries to reconnect with them as he waits for his wife, Erica, to come back to him. Rusty and Sam are as different from each other as chalk and cheese. This is a story about writing love, second chances and what it means when you decide to be there for someone unconditionally, and will definitely make you feel good.

Love, Actually

With an ensemble cast, Love, Actually is a movie which has ten other stories interwoven through it around Christmas time. It is a must watch during the winter, especially when you want to curl up under your blankets and remember that life is good and love really does exist!

He’s Just Not That Into You

Much like Love, Actually, this movie too has an ensemble cast. The stories are interwoven with each other. While the theme of the movie is finding love in present times, there are lessons to learn from it. About how sometimes happily ever after doesn’t involve a man. Watch this movie when you’re feeling really low. Because it will give you something to believe in again!

Bareilly ki Barfi

While the movie didn’t do that well in the box office, Bareilly ki Barfi has been a personal favourite. Ayashman Khurana has done wonders playing a selfish, narcissistic author who writes under a false identity. Only the false identity is that of a real person played by Rajkumar Rao. Kriti Sanon is the woman they both fall in love with. Personally what attracted to me to the movie is how real the characters were. Instead of the selfless and self-sacrificing nonsense Bollywood usually likes to feed us, here were characters willing to do almost anything to ensure they live happily ever after!

Break Ke Baad

Again, this is a personal unpopular choice. What I liked about these two lead characters was the fact that they make a relationship work against all odds. The biggest hurdle we seem to face is distance because long distance relationships are not as romantic as we paint them to be. The characters breakup and come back together stronger than ever and if that doesn’t give you hope I don’t know what will.

Roman Holiday

This one’s an old classic. But if you love black and white movies, if ever you’re in the mood to feed your nostalgia then please watch Roman Holiday. The story of a princess who runs away from her duties and befriends a photographer trying to get an expose on her is bound to put a smile on your faces! It’s been many years but this movie continues to be cherished by the old and new generations alike.

The heartwarming tale of Rani who after being ditched on her wedding day, travels to Paris and Amsterdam alone on her honeymoon made everyone realize that not every happy ending involves a couple riding off into the sunset. You should definitely watch this movie on a night you feel like life is going nowhere and you’re stuck. It’s bound to put a smile on your face.

The Art of Getting By

The story of a seventeen year old high school boy disillusioned with life when he realizes that one day he’s going to die is a must watch if you’re feeling equally bad about life. Among many things the movie teaches you the art of getting by in life and carries in its heart a beautiful message about life and what it truly means to be living it.

Every 90s kid would remember this movie from which the song Yaaron came into our lives and still is our go-to song to define friendships. The story of Rajesh being sent off to boarding school and his adventures and misadventures there is definitely a movie that you can watch with your whole family. Rockford is bound to put a smile on your face.

Easy A

Easily one best made comedies about high school dramas. This story is about a girl who tells a simple lie and it weaves a tangled web, which hurts her and everyone she cares about as it begins to escalate. If you have had a particularly awful week, we would suggest that you unwind by watching this wonderful movie. And as most movies targeted at a young adult audience goes, it does end with a happily ever after.
