Get Out

IMDB rating: 7.7
Rotten Tomatoes: 99%

Let alone the horror genre, Get Out is one of the best movies of the year 2017. Directed by Jordan Peele, this gem of a movie is a weird hybrid of horror, psychological thriller and comedy. MUST. WATCH.

Gerald’s Game

IMDB rating: 6.7
Rotten Tomatoes: 90%

Based on Stephen King’s novel, Gerald’s Game is a psychological horror movie. It’s about a woman who accidentally kills her husband during a kinky game at a secluded house. Handcuffed to her bed with no hope of rescue, she begins hearing voices and seeing strange visions. Books are always better than movies, but nope, not in this case. Movie is a+.

Raw

IMDB rating: 7.0
Rotten Tomatoes: 90%

This insanely gory movie started getting attention when there were reports of A LOT of people throwing up at its Film Festival screening. The movie is rewarding if you’re strong enough to sit through the entire movie. Good luck!

It

IMDB rating: 7.6
Rotten Tomatoes: 85%

This Stephen King’s adaptation took the world by a frigin’ storm and became the highest grossing horror movie of all time. If you wanna watch a movie about growing up and facing your fears with a lot of bad CGI jump scares, this movie is for you.

Happy Death Day

IMDB rating: 6.5
Rotten Tomatoes: 71%

If you liked movies like Edge of Tomorrow and Source Code, you’re gonna love this slasher thriller horror film. It’s about a “college student must relive the day of her murder over and over again, in a loop that will end only when she discovers her killer’s identity.” There are a lot of plotholes, but gonna give it a pass because a really fun movie to watch. Don’t miss.

Life

IMDB rating: 6.6
Rotten Tomatoes: 67%

You know it’s going to be a great movie when there’s Jake Gyllenhaal in it. I was on the edge of my seat gasping through the movie, Life is a horror-thriller in space, about a “team of scientists aboard the International Space Station discover a rapidly evolving life form that caused extinction on Mars and now threatens all life on Earth.” DON’T MISS.

Creep 2

IMDB rating: 6.4
Rotten Tomatoes: 100%

Can’t make a horror movie list without including one from Found Footage genre. Creep 2 is about a “video artist looking for work drives to a remote house in the forest to meet a man claiming to be a serial killer. But after agreeing to spend the day with him, she soon realizes that she made a deadly mistake.”

Annabelle Creation

IMDB rating: 6.6
Rotten Tomatoes: 69%

If you’re a fan of paranormal horror genre, you’re gonna like this movie a lot. Though it’s very predictable and has nothing new to offer to this genre, it’s still a good watch.

It Comes Night

IMDB rating: 6.2
Rotten Tomatoes: 88%

A movie with the most polarizing reactions. While critics went all gaga over it, audience didn’t like it at all. It’s a slow burn psychological horror. Personally, I didn’t like it all that much, but choose for yourself.

Plot: After a mysterious apocalypse leaves the world with few survivors, two families are forced to share a home in an uneasy alliance to keep the outside evil at bay — only to learn that the true horror may come from within.
