Unlike most of our Bollywood stars who were born with a silver spoon, Akshay Kumar made it big on his own.
After continuously getting low marks in elementary school, he finally made a decision to drop out (that’s some inspiration). He won a black belt in Taekwondo and moved to Bangkok to learn Muay Thai. He worked as a waiter & chef to make a living there. He returned to India and started his own training classes. Luckily, one of his friends recommended him to a modelling agency where he worked part time job. But right before the shoot of an important advertisement, Akshay missed the flight. He didn’t give up and finally decided to try his luck in Bollywood. And that’s how Rajiv Bhatia became Akshay Kumar the true Khiladi of Bollywood.
Akshay Kumar is the most versatile actor in Bollywood
From thrilling us with his Khiladi series to tickling our funny bone with his impeccable comic timing in Hera Pheri, to making us cry rivers in Namastey London and to finally, giving us the creeps in Bhool Bhulayia, there’s literally no genre in Bollywood our Khiladi Kumar hasn’t tried yet. While most of the popular actors in Bollywood industry stick to big production houses and release their movies on big occasions, Akshay Kumar constantly works with new directors & small production houses and isn’t a sucker for festivals to release his movies. If he’s not the most versatile actor in Bollywood, I don’t know who is.
He’s just as funny off-screen as he is on-screen
After doing a series of Khiladi movies, he made his way into comedy by doing Hera Pheri, and boy did he nail the movie. Hera Phera is still considered to be the funniest movie of all time. After that it was no stopping him, he went on do movies like Garam Masala, Welcome, Singh is King, Heyy Babyy, Houseful and still at it. But that’s only his on-screen record. What’s amazing is that he has a great sense of humor in real life as well. He keeps up on social media like Facebook and Twitter regularly and keeps us with his fans and of course, his interviews are hilarious.
He’s not just on-screen Khiladi
- The government records have confirmed that Akshay Kumar has been the highest tax payer in Bollywood. In 2013, he had paid Rs 18 crore as advance income tax, but in 2015, Salman took over this titled by paying a tax of Rs 20 crore.
- Akshay Kumar crooned a devotional Punjabi song, ‘Nirgun Raakh Liya’, and donated all the profits to the victims of Mumbai train bombing on July 11.
- If he endorses a liquor brand, fifty percent of the money is given to charities.
- Akshay Kumar launched a production house called Grazing Goats in 2011 with the intention to support low budget films.
He posted something on Facebook which only proves he’s a real life Khiladi.
I’m going to start with an apology, I’m sorry for this negative message guys, its just that on days like today I cant stand the ignorance of some people. On my way to work this morning this guy really frustrated me. I had to get out of my car in the middle of Bombay traffic right by Mr Bachchan’s house, & literally pick up off the road an empty packet of cigarettes that this man decided to carelessly throw out his window without a second thought. Not only do we have to put up with the fact he smokes but we also have to deal with the fact that he doesn’t care a damn about his city or his motherland that God has so graciously provided for him. If we all treated the streets of India with as much love as we do our homes & temples, we would have 5 star ratings on cleaniness rather than being known as one of the dirtiest cities in the world.
I’m no angel, I drive a car, I fly in planes, sometimes I accidently leave the light on, but I consciously try everyday not to dirty or abuse our city. Question is do you? What’s the worst thing you’ve ever done to our environment, something u walked away from that u wished deep down u hadn’t done? I know for sure the guy that littered in front of me today wont forget his actions. I must say I’m sorry for scaring him but don’t abuse India’s streets & maybe they wont abuse you! Dont forget, let me know ur bad habitssometimes writing about them helps u confront & consciously strive to better them. I cant help it i love my country, i just cant cant stand those who dont
Akshay Kumar’s love for healthy lifestyle
This will be a breaking news to you only if you’ve been living under a rock and somehow missed the last 25 years of Bollywood. Akshay Kumar’s love for fitness has been an inspiration for us all.
He doesn’t opt for artificial means of bodybuilding and six pack abs. He prefers doing the real thing. Finishes his work before midnight, wakes up 5 in the morning, he runs, he exercises, he practices martial arts. And as a result, he doesn’t need any stunt-double. He does almost all of his stunts himself.
An Inspiration: Rags To Riches
As a wise man once said, “No success comes without a failure.” Well, it was a series of failures for Akshay Kumar. Though he shifted from being a waiter to a bollywood actor, It wasn’t easy for him to make his place in the industry. He was severely criticized for his looks in his early days. Khiladi Kumar’s then weak voice was considered a big hindrance in his action hero image. He was famously snubbed by the leading heroines of 90s, who refused to work with him. Only after a decade later, Akshay Kumar has become the first bollywood superstar whose movies have earned more than 3000 crore. Only proves that you don’t need a big name to be successful in life, you need only dedication, willpower, drive and hard work… lots of hard work.
In a nutshell, we’re glad that Akshay Kumar made it big because he deserves every bit of it. He’s an inspiration to us all.
